Writing

Writing is a key component of a balanced literacy program.
We use the Lucy Calkins writing program throughout first grade. Students compose texts on varying topics during writing workshop.
At the end of each writing unit, students choose a favorite story to revise, edit, and publish in preparation for a culminating celebration.
