Reading

Learning to read is a central part of first grade.
To achieve this goal we utilize a variety of literacy activities in
our classroom, including shared and guided reading, word study,
independent reading, and writing workshop. We also engage in author
studies and share our personal book recommendations with each
other on a regular basis. Above all, students learn that
reading is an important part of lifelong learning and a lot of fun too!
