Dear Lyon Families,
Dr. Rich and I frequently talk about how fortunate we are in the Lyon/Pleasant Ridge cluster due to the support that our schools receive from all of you. There have recently been some excellent examples of this, and there are more to come in the weeks ahead.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of the PTA Benefit last Saturday, February 20th. Whether your support came in the form of planning, donating, buying/selling raffle tickets, attending the event or all of the above, we greatly appreciate your efforts. As is traditionally the case, the evening felt like a celebration of our schools, and everyone appeared to have a wonderful time! Funds raised will support programs in both schools including Cultural Enrichment, PTA Grants, and numerous charitable programs. Special thanks to Dina Silver for all of the time and energy that went into serving as this year’s benefit chairperson, and thanks to the entire benefit team!
With Parent/Teacher Conferences coming up next week, we hope that you find this time spent with your children’s teachers to be valuable and informative. Your face-to-face communication with teachers sends an important message to your children about our partnership in their learning. If for any reason you end up being unable to make it to school during our scheduled conference days, please contact your child’s teacher to set up an appointment at a mutually agreeable time. For more information about conferences, please see the last edition of this newsletter.
Kindergarten Registration night is right around the corner as well (Thursday, March 11th from 4:30 – 7:00 pm here at Lyon). We look forward to this opportunity to see many of our current Lyon/Pleasant Ridge families that night and to meeting many families new to our cluster. Incoming first and second grade students who will be new to Lyon next school year can also be registered that evening. Registering children as early as possible helps us in planning for next year, so if you know of any families who will be sending a new student to Lyon next school year, please send them our way. Thank you for all of your support – we never take it for granted. We look forward to seeing you soon.
Sincerely,
Kevin Dorken
