Dear Lyon Families

Our year began in wonderful fashion, and we thank you for all of your support during these early days of school.  Our enthusiastic kindergarten students (and parents!) become more and more comfortable each day as they learn their way around Lyon and get to know all of the adults who are here to help them.  Our first grade students are adjusting nicely to spending the entire day at school and are excited about the big year ahead of them.  Second graders at Lyon – our “pros” – are off to an excellent start serving as our school’s student leaders.  We look forward to another successful school year for every child at Lyon and to working together with you to make this possible.

You can stay in touch with life at Lyon School in many ways.  Reading our twice-monthly newsletters is a great start, and our district and school websites are rich with helpful and interesting content as well.  You can make a more personal connection by attending our monthly PTA meetings (more about PTA inside these pages) or volunteering during the school day or at special school events.  Our annual Curriculum Night (Thursday, September 4th from 6:30 – 8:00pm) is the perfect opportunity to learn about the work we do with students, and we will host additional parent-focused events throughout the year.  Of course, talking with your child about school each day and regular communication with your child’s classroom teacher are keys to staying connected to his/her school experience.  If there is ever anything we can help you understand more fully about Lyon School, please don’t hesitate to contact me.  

The school year does not get off to such a good start without the tireless efforts of many people.  We are grateful for all of the time and energy that our Lyon School staff, PTA and many parent volunteers have given thus far – and it’s only August!  The caring and commitment on behalf of children is always so impressive in our school community, and we thank you again for all that you do.
