“To Dance is to live” - Snoopy
During the Spring, students explored creative movement which provides a natural pathway for young children to integrate, communicate, and express learning. One of the most important things is to help them to feel comfortable moving to the music.
During the Winter months, students continue to learn about the traditions through celebration around the world. The dances shown in this presentation show creative movement. The students travel in various pathways, directions, and levels in their own personal and general space. The main emphasis is to alert the awareness of the students and provide them with background information on the components of Dance.
During the Fall, students were learning about Structured/ Unstructured Dance. They learned that structured dance follows a pattern and unstructured dance allows creative movement. The dances captured in the following presentations show patterns presented by a caller in Square Dance. The classes will perform two dances demonstrating some basic calls in which the students had to work together moving within their square.
Throughout the year the students will continue to explore and appreciate the world’s people by participating in their dances. Both structured and unstructured dance promote excellent exercise, sharpen attention skills, and are a fun way to create a sense of community. Today’s kids love to and need to move!
