Lyon
Elementary School, winner of the
2003 Blue Ribbon Award, is a K-2 school in Community
Consolidated School District
34, located in Glenview, Illinois.
Lyon has a student population of over 425. The school
also offers at-risk pre-kindergarten and extended
day kindergarten
programs for those students who qualify.

students have weekly experiences
with Visual Art, Drama and Music Education. First through
Second graders have daily Physical
Education, while Kindergarten
has weekly Physical Education.
The
school is serviced by a full
time Social Worker and a part time Psychologist. Students needing
additional
support
services in academics, speech, or
physical therapy are also serviced.
The Lyon Learning
Center provides print and electronic materials
for research as well as leisure
enjoyment. The Lyon
Technology Lab of
25 eMacs is networked with software for technology integration
into the classroom curriculum. Thanks to the Lyon/PR PTA,
a wireless network recently was installed so that students
may utlize a computer cart of 25 Apple latpop iBooks throughout
the building as well. Technology at Lyon School is integrated
into the curriculum and aligned
with
the National
Education
Technology
Standards
for students. The Lyon School webpages are regularly used
not only as a communication tool but also a portal for school
and home curriculum connections.
Communication is
kept current at Lyon School through our Lyon
Life Newsletter is sent home every other week. Teachers keep in regular communication
with
parents
and
families with classroom
newsletters as well as teacher web pages.
Lyon School is a dynamic, child-centered
